Q: Hi! I visited you yesterday and was very impressed! I thoroughly enjoyed
the
beautiful displays and the wonderful smell of the fresh flowers! I will be doing
a fresh wedding in late September. I am a bit concerned about being able to keep
the flowers fresh as it will take a while to put everything together. I will have
access to a large refrigerator at the church. It will not contain any food at
the time of the wedding. What are your thoughts on this? I would also like to
treat magnolias with glycerin so I can do some things ahead of time. Do you have
glycerin , if not do you know where I might find it in quantity? Also, I
need to
know the number of stems in a bunch of stephanotis and the price? The same for
Lavender roses and Bridal Whites. Thank you very much for your response and a
wonderful visit to your shop!
Sincerely, Barbara
A:
Barbara,
Thank you for your recent inquiry and we are glad that you had
such a good experience at our store, we look forward to seeing you many more
times. There is no need to worry about keeping your flowers fresh while you
work, what you will need to do is really quite simple. After you pick up your
flowers from us, and get them to where you are going, you will need to re-cut
all the stems and place them in fresh water. Adding the preservative packets to
the water that we sell at the checkout also helps. Refrigeration is nice, but
not always necessary, just make sure that there are no apples or pineapples in
the refrigerator and that it is set safely above 45 degrees. Also, keep in mind
that if you want any of the flowers to open more than they already are they will
need to be left at room temperature. In most cases, an air conditioned room, no
direct sunlight and water is all that is needed to keep fresh flowers looking
their best..
Unfortunately, we do not sell glycerine. We suggest
trying a local drugstore. We sell stephanotis in boxes of 25 blooms per box
for $17.50 and the artificial stems are sold for $2.50 for 25. Therefore,
figure on $20.00 for 25 stephanotis and stems. We sell roses in grower bunches
of approximately 25 roses per bunch. Red roses generally sell for $9.95 per
bunch and the other colors range from $13.00 to $20.00 per bunch.
Once
you decide on the flowers that you will need, we suggest that you call or come
by the store at least two weeks before you need them and place an order.
Ordering is not necessary, nor does it cost extra. It is just an added
convenience to know that your flowers are set aside and ready for you to pick up
when needed. We hope that all of this information has helped and please let
us know if we can help you with anything else now or in the
future.
